A reusable hot & cold pack can be frozen for cold or warmed for heat — handy for every first-aid box.
Do not use heat when
- The area is swollen, red or feels hot.
- There is an open wound or a fresh bruise.
- You cannot feel heat properly (for example, diabetes affecting the feet).
Do not use cold when
- You have poor circulation or feel cold easily.
- Directly on bare skin — always wrap the pack.
See a doctor for
- Pain after a fall, accident or sports injury.
- Swelling, redness or a joint that feels hot.
- Numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms or legs.
- Fever, unexplained weight loss, or pain that wakes you at night.
