How to Wash a Heating Pad Cover

Short answer: unplug it, take the cover off the pad, wash the cover only (by hand or gentle cycle), and let it dry fully before you put it back. Never put the electric pad itself in water unless the label says washable.

Step by step

1. Unplug and let it cool.
2. Detach the controller if your pad has a connector.
3. Remove the cover — on most pads it unzips or slides off.
4. Wash the cover by hand or on a gentle cycle in cool water with mild detergent, as the label says.
5. Dry fully on a line, out of direct strong sun.
6. Wipe the inner pad with a barely damp cloth only if the manual allows.
7. Use the pad again only when everything is completely dry.

Never

• Put the controller or plug in water.
• Iron, dry-clean or tumble-dry unless the label allows it.
• Wring or twist the inner pad.

Belts and wraps

For period belts and knee wraps, remove the heating module (if it comes out) and hand-wash the fabric only.
